When farming for levels, you can use Leader position for mid-to-high leveling and front line position for low-to-mid leveling, while placing strongest cat in back line (granted, team can endure the damage dealt by the enemies this way).

It may be beneficial to place stronger cat in back line instead of front line, and start with using back line attack.

Swapping takes place before the attack and isn't tied to speed.
